HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Welcome Back to School!  I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday break.  With 2011 behind us, 2012 promises to be a challenging and rewarding year!

Biology:
The countdown continues for the EOC in May.  This week we will be turning our attention from Bacteria to Virus's.  Before the break we viewed an Ebola outbreak.  It is truly amazing how a small non-living entity like a virus can cause such havoc and devastation.  Part of our EOC curriculum is to be able to compare Bacteria, Virus's and Protists.  We will be making quick work of Virus's with a Vocab Quiz on Ch. 24 Wednesday and a Ch. 24 Assessment over Virus's on Friday.

ESP:
We continue with Ch. 21 The Earth this week.  Section 2 dealing with Earthquakes and Volcanoes is our emphasis this week.  We will have two organizers to categorize both the three types of Earthquakes and three types of Volcanoes.  Before the break we viewed the destruction of Pompeii by the volcanic eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 AD.  On Thursday and Friday we will be viewing a possible eruption closer to home.  Yellowstone National Park has recently been identified as a super volcano.  A docudrama on the possibilities and consequences of this eruption will be viewed.

Welcome Back and Have a Great Week!
